Typography in the Age of AI
When models generate the words, the craft of setting type matters more — not less.

AI can draft a paragraph in seconds. It cannot decide whether that paragraph should whisper or shout on the page.
Hierarchy is still human work
Type scale, weight, and measure are product decisions. They tell the reader what to trust first.

Practical rules that still hold
- Prefer one display face and one text face for a portfolio or product surface
- Keep line length around 60–75 characters for body copy
- Use space before you use a second accent color
Where models help
Drafts, alt text, and first-pass documentation benefit from automation. Final rhythm — the pause between heading and body — is still a designer’s ear.
Typography is how we respect the reader’s time when the words are cheap.
